The SCART Cleaner is a versatile device designed for 15KHz (240p & 480i) retro gaming signals. It functions similarly to a SCART-to-SCART device, but with a different output connector for easy interfacing with capture cards and your display's analog inputs. This open-source (CERN OHLv2) device is perfect for those looking to enhance their setup with precise and reliable analog signal routing.
This USB-powered device features toggle switches for LPF and sync stripper, allowing for precise audio control. We recommend starting with both switches off and toggling as needed. For best results, the sync stripper should be used, unless your console is already equipped with an LPF such as the THS7314. If you experience noise, try toggling to see if it improves. Like the title says, avoid buying anything from Rondo or Castlemania like the plague. This company is a ghost town when it comes to customer service.
I bought the scart cleaner but before it was shipped I put in a cancel request because I realized it ultimately wouldn't really improve my gaming setup. Doesn't matter, they shipped it out and then sent me an email explaining how to return the item. Fine whatever.
So I wait for it to arrive and then mail it back using the label generated on their site. I wait another week for it to be delivered to them and I get an email confirming the item was delivered and received by a person.
From here its where things get crazy. For the past 8 days I've tried opening a new support ticket, I've tried more than once continuing the initial email thread I opened and I've called their support line multiple days during their business hours and NO ONE has replied. And in both the support ticket and the emails I've attached the confirmation from UPS that the item was delivered to them. I'm not sure what is happening exactly over there but going on reddit confirms Castlemania and Rondo have absolutely abysmal communication for deliveries and returns. Even now they still have not replied to me. The price of this item is not an insignificant amount of money, so their total ghosting of their customers feels incredibly shady. I'm hoping by leaving a negative review this at least gets them to acknowledge that they've been fumbling. Because frankly it's unacceptable to run an online business like this when the majority of online vendors never have these problems. I'll likely never buy another product from their sites after this experience, and I strongly urge others to do the same until they fix their business.
